Many students believe they need to spend hours studying Maths every evening. The truth is that short, focused study sessions completed consistently are far more effective. Here's a simple weekly study plan.
Monday — Revise a Topic: spend 30 minutes reviewing one topic such as Algebra, Trigonometry or Calculus, then complete a few exam questions on it.
Tuesday — Correct Your Work: go back over yesterday's questions. Understanding your mistakes is one of the fastest ways to improve.
Wednesday — Mix Your Topics: complete questions from different areas of the course, which helps you become more flexible when answering exam questions.
Thursday — Practise Calculator Skills: learn the shortcuts on your calculator and make sure you're confident using it — small improvements here can save valuable time during the exam.
Friday — Timed Practice: complete one exam question under timed conditions. Learning to manage your time is just as important as knowing the maths itself.
Weekend — Past Paper Practice: complete a full section from a previous Leaving Certificate paper, correcting your answers using the official marking scheme and identifying areas for improvement.
Studying Maths doesn't have to take over your evenings. Thirty focused minutes each day can make a huge difference by the time June arrives. Leaving Cert Plus provides structured revision plans, expert notes and step-by-step solutions to help you study smarter.
