Many students think improving at English means reading for hours every night. It doesn't. Consistency beats cramming every time, and here's a weekly study plan that reflects that.

Monday: Poetry — spend 30 minutes revising one poet, learning three useful quotations, and practising one paragraph.

Tuesday: Single Text — review the themes, characters and important moments, then write one introduction based on an essay plan.

Wednesday: Comparative Study — choose one mode and compare your three texts, focusing on their similarities and differences.

Thursday: Paper One — practise comprehension questions, personal essays, speeches and opinion pieces. Strong writing skills improve every section of the exam, not just one.

Friday: Language Practice — expand your vocabulary by reading quality journalism, opinion pieces or literary articles, and notice how professional writers build an argument.

Weekend: complete one timed exam question, then compare your answer against the marking scheme, examiner reports and sample H1 answers. You'll quickly spot where you can improve.

An hour of focused study is worth far more than three distracted hours. The students who improve most aren't always the ones who study the longest — they're the ones who practise consistently and genuinely learn from feedback.
