Irish can feel like a large subject because there are so many different skills to develop. Breaking your revision into smaller areas makes it much more manageable.

Monday — Oral Irish: spend time speaking Irish out loud, practising common questions and developing your answers.

Tuesday — Grammar & Vocabulary: review one grammar area and learn useful vocabulary, using it in full sentences rather than learning individual words in isolation.

Wednesday — Reading: complete a reading exercise or comprehension question, focusing on understanding the overall meaning.

Thursday — Literature: revise one poem, prose text or other prescribed piece from your course, focusing on the key ideas and the language you'll need to discuss them.

Friday — Listening: complete an aural exercise or listen to spoken Irish, trying to identify the important information without worrying about understanding every word.

Weekend — Exam Practice: complete a past exam question under timed conditions, then review your answer and identify areas for improvement.

You don't need to spend hours studying Irish every evening. Regular practice across speaking, listening, reading and writing is much more effective than trying to cram the course before June. At Leaving Cert Plus, our Irish resources are designed to make revision more structured and help you prepare for the exam with confidence.
