Frequently Asked Questions

The Leaving Certificate Physics exam takes place every June as part of the official State Examinations Commission timetable. The timetable is released each year by the SEC.

The Leaving Certificate Physics course includes Mechanics, Heat, Light, Sound, Electricity, Magnetism, Modern Physics and Mandatory Experiments. Students are also assessed on scientific principles and problem-solving skills.

Physics can be challenging, but students who understand the concepts, learn the mandatory experiments and practise exam questions regularly can achieve excellent results.

Learn the mandatory experiments, understand the key concepts, complete past exam questions and review the marking schemes to see how marks are awarded. Regular revision throughout the year is the most effective approach.
